The Technology Development group at Baebies has the responsibility for grant execution and supporting existing lab products and new product development efforts. As a member of this team, the Scientist will support the development of new assays and provide hands-on support of assay systems through transition to the product development process. An ideal candidate would be highly motivated, bright and inquisitive.

Roles and Responsibilities:

· Conduct research and development of diagnostic assays on microfluidic devices

· Conduct research and development of diagnostic assays using other platforms (i.e. lateral flow, microtiter plate assays)

· Design and conduct experiments to characterize microfluidic devices and processes and support the implementation of assays and biochemical processes in the microfluidic format

· Develop diagnostic immunoassays, functional assays, enzymatic assays and magnetic bead-based separation methods in the microfluidic format.

· Manage collaborative projects with academic institutions and industry partners

· Work with engineers and technicians to translate gold standard laboratory assays to microfluidic format

· Assist with the transition of research results to useful and manufacturable products

· Maintain impeccable lab note books that document experimental setup and results; assist with developing and filing intellectual property; and assist with writing of grant proposals (generating preliminary data and progress reports)

· Ensure that all project deliverables are met and project adheres to key product requirements; assists in identifying risks within each project

Skills/Experience & Requirements:

  • BS/MS in biochemistry, chemistry, biology or related field
  • Ability to understand complex systems
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to generate results under tight deadlines
